This project was made by skillful 63 lacquer artisans from Wajima. Carefully planned and done after 11 months.*The Music of the Tide*This work consist of 15 lacquered wood panels, decorated with makie- (gold dust) and chinkin (gold inlay) designs with 18 meters in length.Each panel is 2.6 meters tall, 1.2 meters wide and 3.6 centimeters thick. The stunning designed panel expresses the sound of the wind; the energetic flapping of the birds wing and the fragrance of the tide!The seabirds and the sound of the sea breaking waves on the shore symbolize ” WAJIMA” the most famous town for lacquerware in Japan.
